Last week I had the pleasure of photographing popular blogger @thejessicajourney shopping behind the scenes at an up and coming boutique in Encinitas, CA called SALT Collection! It is an eclectic boutique "cultivated & curated" by Rob & Sophie Machado that carries women and mens attire as well as trendy home decor and surf memorabilia. The moment you walk up to the eye catching cottage, you are greeted with stunningly colorful succulents that would have any hipster feeling right at home. But if that wasn't enough the charming door mat you see as you enter will surely do you in. The exclusive boutique is pouring with natural light which makes the boho yet tropical collection really pop against the bright and clean decor. There is even a handmade macrame swing hanging in the outside patio that just calls your name and invites you to go explore there outdoor space. The patio has ample seating and there is a beautiful mural done by local artist Sage Vaughn there for you to sit and enjoy. My advice get there ASAP!
"Now at last they were beginning chapter one of the great stories no one on earth has ever read, which goes on forever; in which every chapter is better than the one before."
It never gets old shooting two people so happy and in love can't wait for the wedding in October!
Absolutely LOVE this family! They were one of the first families I had the pleasure of shooting a few years ago and it was so nice to revisit with them last week during this fun in the sun filled session!
Absolutely ADORE this couple!!! They are so in love that it was a joy to shoot and we were all smiling and laughing the whole time! After the session when the bill came the total was $7.77 and I said "make a wish!" to which Bob looked at Haley and replied "I wish we live happily ever after." Um could you be any cuter!?
This stunning beauty made the best out of the gloomy weather we had to work with and totally killed her session! I know she will take the world by storm with the same fierceness! Get ready world here comes Erika G!
So I get asked to do portrait sessions at a lot of places... but this was a first! Such a fun session at the DAV in Oceanside really tapping into our creative sides and trying to capture this unique souls amazing personality! Check out so of the shenanigans we got into!
I have seen this beautiful lady blossom and grow over the past 6 years that we have known each other so it seemed very fitting to me that we chose to do her Grad shoot in a beautiful blooming meadow. Here are a few highlights from our whimsical spring session!
This beautiful lady is a former room mate of mine, a cherished bridesmaid at my wedding, and is now expecting her first son Thomas. I have been blessed enough to capture some highlights over the past few years of her lifes journey with her new husband Ricky as they travel the United States working as a park ranger. Yesterday we drove up to Palomar Mountain and took these photos at the very place they got married less than two years ago. We were lucky enough to catch a stunning sunset on the way back down the mountain that was like a cherry on top after an already breathtaking session. Here are a few glimpses of our festivities!
A few sneak peeks of this couples magical wedding day.
These two beautiful families are near and dear to my heart. We always have fun when we get together and this weekend at Myrtle Creek was no different. Here are a few sneak peeks of our session!
I am so glad you all made time in your vacation to come and take some pics with me this week! Next time I am in Hong Kong we will have to meet up ;)
This beautiful couple just had the pleasure of welcoming thier first son into the world last week. I am so happy I was able to be there soon after to capture these beautiful memories for them. The father Matt is from Michigan and is a big sports buff "Go Blue!" There is no doubt that this little one is a future star player. Go get'em Carter!
Loved being able to spend time with this beautiful family and capture thier new parent glow :P
A few sneak peeks from this weekends Balboa Park maternity session with the beautiful Noella and her boyfriend Alex. What a lovely couple. Can't wait to take baby Noah's pictures in a few months!!!
In December of last year, while attending a friends wedding, I found out that my dear friend and midwife Emily was expecting her second child. I was overjoyed with excitement for her and couldn't wait to see what the next year had in store for us both. Because I had just become a mother myself the next few months flew by and the next thing I knew it was time to take her maternity photos! We decided to take them at the beautiful Guajome Park in Oceanside, Ca because it is one of Emily's favorite spots in North County and it is always filled with the most dreamy golden light that as a photographer I find so inspiring. She brought along her handsome husband Joey and her adorable son Rowan and we had a blast capturing this beautiful families obvious love for this new little one.
A few weeks later I was woken up at 7:00am by a call from Emily's sister Katie. I had been loosing sleep for days waiting for this news and it was finally time! She informed me that Emily was in labor and was progressing well. She wanted to give me time to find a sitter for my daughter Emery but said she would text me when they were ready for me to come over. Every baby and therefore every birth is different and unique in its own special way and even though Emily and I had planned on me being there to photograph her delivery God had other plans that morning. The next thing I knew I got a text from Katie that said "Come NOW baby is coming now!" With her first son Rowan, Emily had been in labor for 43 hours! This little one decided to come out in 6.5! It was a surprise to us all! So on July 6th 2015 at 8:53 am Finlay Roy St. Clair Ager made his debut into the world weighing 7lbs. 8oz. and measuring 20.5 inches. After rushing over I arrived a few minutes after 9:00am. Her mother answered the door and it was so quite and right away I knew that I had missed it and my heart sank. However when I walked In and saw my dearest friend emily holding her new little angel my heart smiled again. I let the family share a few moments in private and then I began capturing the emotion in the room.
They decided ahead of time not to find out the sex of the baby until birth (I was sure it was a girl lol) but thier son Rowan had been calling the baby "Bazachomba" pretty much the whole time. After a while when they decided on a name for thier new son they brought Rowan over and told him what his brothers name was going to be. As you can see he had mixed emotions.
Later on "Bama" stopped by to meet her newest great grandson and I can say it has been one of my favorite moments to capture to date. I left a few minutes later as the midwifes were cleaning up and her mother had brought out her special lasagna that Emily had requested for her after delivery meal. A week later I came back to find a grown up little man! The hand knit blankets and tapestry from India made the most amazing backdrops for these photos and the cute measuring tape given to her by her midwife Lauren was the perfect touch! To be able to document these moments from belly to baby was an amazing joy. I hope this family treasures these photos for years to come.
